No Shame

There is no shame in it.

Being sick.
Being unavailable.
Being temporarily disposed.

Having a moment to tap out and own the fact that you need more than a quick minute.

Rest, recover, break away.

Expectations can be suffocating when we hit the wall. But the only person truly powerful enough to hold ourselves to those expectations is us.

Truth - sometimes we didn’t create them.
Sometimes they were imposed on us from other’s fears around us.

But we still have the freedom to say no.

I do not accept that I need to be available right now. It’s not because I am less than, a failure, incapable of meeting your needs.

It’s because I am human.
And vulnerable.
I am still strong, even when I’m weak.
I am still a fighter, even when I tap out.
I am still worthy, even when I can’t engage.

And there is no shame in it.
Not from ourselves or anyone else.

Because we are free to break free.
For more than a moment when we need it
